the darkness that calls itself light

There is a darkness that nearly all recognize as darkness, but this is not the darkness with which we should concern ourselves.

Instead, it is the darkness that knows itself as light and which is the source of all darkness - including the darkness that knows itself as darkness - that we must understand. But to recognize this darkness as darkness one must first move into a more perfect Light. And this is one of the first signposts on the path to Light: The darkness that believes itself to be light originated in a false notion of God.

This false notion of divinity is reflected in nearly all of our social institutions, in the hierarchical, authoritarian structure that permeates our world. It is the pattern of this world. From government to corporations to institutional religion, our presidents, CEOs, and popes sit atop their respective piles of humanity, acting as proxies to the false gods that rule over creation. And we, collectively, have projected this pattern onto the true spiritual realms - but it is not a heavenly pattern, it is an earthly one.

However, there is the Light that knows itself to be light. This is the Light in which we seek to abide. In this light we learn that divinity serves those who find none in themselves; true divinity is a source of strength for those with none; it provides to those in need, with no expectation of personal gain. By abiding in these truths we reveal essential spiritual realities within our physical world; in doing so we bring a bit of heaven to the earth.

Love, this Light of lights, is the root of all things. That which is truly omnipotent holds no fear. Haven't we been often reminded to abide in Love because perfect love casts out fear? Only Love is omnipotent, all else will fall to ruin as this age ends.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed through a renewing of your mind and spirit.

Thanks, Spring. Well, it's not as though this is a new concept, still I believe it to be an important one. While it is helpful to be able to recognize external darknesses as darkness, maybe it is more important to identify the darkness within ourselves, and cultivate light in its place. This is the extent of what we can control, an awesome task in itself.

If we neglect our own darkness, we might project that darkness onto the innocence of others. BUT we shouldn't be fools either, now should we?

Nix you are so right about us recognizing the darkness in ourselves. We have to do this first. It should be our number one priority. It is much easier to control than the darkness projected by others.
