Raven brings her own good medicine
Of Turtle Knowing and Horse Crossing
Of Bear Song and Wolf. No flossing or glossing over
And sometimes a softening, now and then
It is the medicine of Raven and Crow, The Medicine That Warns of Danger yet it reveals
The Wholeness of Spirit, The Messenger of Hope
A holiness second to none.
Raven shows us where it is and how its done.
Few know this, but once Raven, now darkened and black
Flew to the sun clothed in rainbow light
She had begun her flight with good intentions
But her pride of wanting to fly higher than eagle
Caused her brief encounter with Grandfather Sun to scorch her shiny wings.
Then the gods darkened her colors from bright day to the darkest night
Lacking color entirely (except under certain conditions when his attention
Is focused) instead on guarding or helping others to The Knowing, bringing wisdom and joy into their lives.
Yes, she brings warnings too, of destruction and spoil
She toils relentlessly cleaning up the refuse, the bloody messy foils of human cruelty and disbelief
The woundings and rapings of each other, Mother Nature, Her animals and soils.
Yes she remembers her wrongdoings and pride
And now she works at restoring and rehealing the wounds others try to hide.
This is her medicine, like Turtle, Wolf, Owl and Bear
Quietly tearing away at The Superficial Obstructions
That leave us feeling alone without purpose.
You think Raven and Crow are arrogant? You're wrong!
Raven is pure of heart. Love and the feeling of love for all the birds of the forest is the reason she stands guard
She's not worried about herself. He has few, if any ennemies.
Her medicine of protection and prevention never grows old
Never loses color or worth
Leaves thoughts and ideas of sin and guilt or worse. alone
Rides with The Wind and Roaming Hawk
With Falcon and Eagle, she never balks
Pride once sour, now sweet
With healing being foremost
Attending to the weak members of her family
She knows her job is in helping out, cleaning up as we speak
And that, my friend,... that work has more to do with REAL healing than all the glory and clout
The "fancy-titled" doctors or "spiritual healers" of the human race keep preaching and talking about.
That's Raven's Medicine, nothing to shout about, just keep on working, keep on reaching for the source
Of The Wound.
On one hand, his medicine can be dark.
Ravens and Crows, like Turkey
Can stand in the rain for hours, peck at themselves forever
Always perfecting things to the point of overkill.
They are known to occasionally peck themselves to death.
So Raven warns us humans, to be very careful with her medicine
Don't always try to fix things
Trying to get everything spotlessly clean.
Somewhere in between doing nothing at all and cleaning up the entire mess lies the answer.
Being perfect isn't necessary
But working together towards perfection is.
Spirit's reflection in you and through you will defect all the arrows aimed at you
A great thing to see and to know that Raven watches over you
