A few of the UK papers covered this mars rover picture today of what looks like a small statue, pasted the story from the Daily Mail below.

Interesting but not conclusive for me barring a peek at the close- up NASA maybe has hidden away somewhere.

What I found more curious was this 'V' cut rock located in the vicinity of the red circle, no straight lines in nature?

Does this photograph really prove that we are not alone in the universe?

Images beamed back from Mars would suggest so - although to sceptics, it could just be a strange rock formation.

NASA's Mars Explorer Spirit sent back images from the surface of the Red Planet four years ago, and there was initial disappointment among scientists that they lacked any signs of life.





Sitting on a small outcropping...looking away from the Rover?



The figure seems to be in a sitting position with right 'arm'
up and the head looking off to its left.



Note how the 'figure' appears to be a female form. Note also how
the 'hair' is a different hue than the 'body' and the the 'hands' are
ALSO a different hue than the 'body.' Quite an interesting 'coincidence'
for a piece of 'rock'...

But space and science fiction enthusiasts are convinced there is more than meets the eye, and after years of studying the images, have found what appears to be an alien figure walking downhill.

The discovery of the life-like figure ambling across the surface of the planet is likely to further boost intrigue in our nearest neighbouring planet.

An earlier rock formation, dubbed "the face of Mars" showed what appeared to be a human head staring into the night sky.

The pictures, found on a Chinese website, are now creating a stir of excitement on the internet.

One keen stargazer said: "These pictures are amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked and saw what appears to be a naked alien running around on Mars."

NASA's Mars Explorer Spirit is now starting its fourth year of exploration.

Rovers are deployed because it has so far been too costly and difficult to achieve a manned mission to Mars, and because probes and satellites are too limited to explore the Martian surface.

The Spirit rover was launched on June 10, 2003.

Maybe they are petrified bodies of humans dumped there by aliens.

MID...ewww...we watched "Signs" the other night and, well, your remark makes me shudder. You might be right. I'm keeping glasses of water sitting around, just in case....heh

Eric, thank you for bringing this here....did you notice that the figure seems to have breasts? That is just very bizarre. I don't think it's "just a rock."

I personally think they're just rocks.

When it comes to "pictures from space". Remember a pbs documentary interviewing photographers claiming the pictures were fake? (Think about it---shadows----where is the light source coming from that makes a object have a shadow, if its not the sun, and how could there be several shadows in same photo each in slightly different directions? My friend Cri worked for NASA as late as the 1997's, was mysteriously fired, blacklisted throughout the industry. She has seen photos none of us have seen.....yet..... (she was a driver who delivered data or componants from building to building/to other bases, HAPPENED to see photos no one "on the outside" had seen....... just the tip of the come crashing down iceberg, folks.......
