| A Prayer for Today and Always
Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.
Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-y ear-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.
Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.
Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together .
Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

Geez, you know me too well, Spring, thank you so much for that reminder. I needed that. And I was giggling at the fact that you knew *I* needed the reminder. |

| Native American Prayer
Oh Great Spirit, Whose Voice I Hear in the wind, Whose breath gives life to the world, hear me. I come to you as one of your many children, I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom. May I walk in beauty, Make my eyes behold the red and purple sunset, Make my hands respect the things that you have made, and my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise so that I may know the things that you have taught your children, The lessons that you have hidden in every leaf and rock. Make me strong... Not to be superior to my brothers but to be able to fight My greatest enemy.. myself. Make me ever ready to come to you with straight eyes so That when life fades as the faded sunset, My spirit will come to you without shame

| Thanks BTM for that prayer. I love Native American prayers.
There is one line in there that gets to the heart of most problems. - Quote :
- Make me strong...
Not to be superior to my brothers but to be able to fight My greatest enemy.. myself.

| I liked that line, too, Spring. Have you by any chance heard of the "13 Grandmothers" and the prophecy that says they will come together to light the way for us? I just watched a movie trailer about it, but I've never heard of this prophecy. I'm wondering if it's real or just a slick marketing campaign? |

| BTM I have not heard of them, but I read your post about them. That is very interesting. When I have time I am going to look into that. I hope it is true, and not a slick marketing campaign, as you say. It would be inspiring if true. | |

| It sounds like a marketing campaign if no-one has heard of them. | |
