TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE TUESDAY Empty
PostSubject: TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE TUESDAY   TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE TUESDAY EmptyMon Aug 27, 2007 10:04 pm

LUNAR ECLIPSE--FULL COVERAGE: On Tuesday, Aug. 28th, the full Moon will enter Earth's shadow for a 90-minute total eclipse. People on the Pacific side of Earth will have the best view as the Moon turns a dreamy shade of sunset red. Favored areas include the Americas (especially western North America), Hawaii, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, east Asia and Antarctica. The show begins Tuesday morning around 2 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (0900 UT).

Although the dominant color of a lunar eclipse is red, sometimes another hue appears--turquoise. Earth's shadow has a turquoise-colored fringe caused by our planet's ozone layer, and this can be seen for a few beautiful moments at the onset of totality. Today's edition of spaceweather.com shows you what the turquoise fringe looks like and explains how to catch it.

Also, amateur astronomers are encouraged to assist NASA during the eclipse by scanning the darkened Moon for explosions caused by Helion meteoroid impacts. Typical flashes reach 6th magnitude--easy targets for mid-sized backyard telescopes equipped with digital video cameras. The eclipse is a great time to look for these "lunar meteors." Observing tips and more information are available at http://spaceweather.com.

Full coverage of the eclipse, including maps, animations, timetables and links to live webcasts, begins now on http://spaceweather.com .

Yay!

Daily Cosmic Calendar
Provided by Astrology.com
By Mark Lerner

- Like last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the cosmos is stretching you to the limit as the Full Moon (activating 5 degrees of Virgo and Pisces) strikes at 3:36AM PDT. This will be followed by a Total Lunar Eclipse - happening just 2 minutes later. Any Full Moon/Eclipse has awesome potential for healing, enlightenment and passing along sacred teachings to earthlings in search of a deeper understanding of the purpose of life. However, this exact solar-lunar polarity can also coincide with interpersonal war games and testy behavior that can put millions on edge. It's wise to be on guard today in romance and business negotiations because Mars forms a contra-parallel tie with Jupiter (7:13AM PDT) while Mercury makes its annual polarity with Uranus (12:40PM PDT). Therefore, three sets of celestial bodies are in tense and stressful alignments. The Mercury-Uranus link is a reminder to immerse yourself in metaphysical teachings and scientific studies. This cosmic bond finds a resonant echo pattern tonight as Mercury makes a contra-parallel tie to Uranus as well (8:43PM PDT). Instead of jumping from one unnerving situation to another, strive to mellow out completely during calming Pisces Moon. Swim, sail or go for a long walk along a favorite waterway. Conduct strategy sessions with advisers, agents and colleagues during the monthly Moon-Pallas union (2:45PM PDT). If you are still feeling wired and highly stimulated late tonight, it may be due to the approaching Moon-Uranus encounter in Pisces (12:17AM PDT tomorrow). Dance the blues away this evening as erotic sparks fly in affairs of the heart.
