I just spent a few days in the dark. We had some bad ass winds blow through here Friday morning 80-110 mph. Hurricane force winds in the midwest. Anyway, I was yet again without electricity for a few days. (60 hours) I had just received a shipment of books in earlier in the week and took the opportunity to read a few. the first one is "Emergency Food Storage and Survival Handbook" a very informative book with a lot of recipes for using dehydrated foods. She stresses that you buy what your family already likes and eats so you don't waste money on stuff that will get thrown away. She does seem to rely on the electricity staying on though. Also, lots of good resources in the back. 11.95 fro Edward R. Hamilton Booksellers. The next one is "Apocalypse Chow" don't you love the title? this guy has survived several hurricanes and speaks from experience, his whole book is built around NOT having and electricity. His writing style is humorous and easy to read. NO ramen noodles or spam recipes here, his aim is to eat in STYLE. I haven't quite finished the book yet but have loved every word so far. 4.95 also from Ed. R. Ham. The other book I read last week is "Staying in Alignment" by Karen Bishop I love everything she writes, she has also posted her first mini e book on her website which is another winner.
