| A physicist (and Lakota elder) AK Ross, in dealing with alcohol and tobacco additions, he said "think of your addiction your friend instead of your enemy. Say to your friends tobacco and alcohol, when they charm you into having a smoke and a drink with them, no thanks, not now, maybe later." He resolved his drinking/smoking addiction. The idea is so simple and yet so right on. Instead of beating yourself to death everytime you break your promises to yourself, each time you say not now, later my friend, you find yourself stronger and stronger each time friend tries to con you into spending more time with him/her (c'mon, have a drink)......a true friend knows how to pay attention to his best friend (the same you) and say to yourself, no thank you, maybe some other time.... Wow! I got over my own drinking addiction that way. It works. I even went so far as to pat myself on the head now and then, :laugh4: instead of beating myself up again | |

| Remembering this each time I am tempted to light a cigarette. I am going on two weeks, but the cravings have not ceased. They have lessened, but not completely disappeared.
I will do this. I will make it through. This friend of mine is very selfish! | |
