hi. i am a little curious. there are so many earth quakes happening all the time, our planet moving and adjusting, a fluid ball of energy in constant motion. maybe earth quakes are more like lightening bolts... we r just accustomed to see some things as solid.

do you know if there are more earthquakes or if they are more severe since the motor age, and the rise in the use of petroleum? drawing all that fluid out of the earths system must have some effect? and i am guessing that just as we use oils to stop two surfaces grinding together in a motor, that maybe the earth also uses oil in this way. <<elk>>

Elk you have raised some interesting questions. As the law of physics dictates "For every action there is a re-action." I do believe that drawing the oil out of the earth does have an effect. I am sure sinkholes and earthquakes are part of this process. I remember reading that we have created a very volatile situation by this, but there is no easy way out at this time because we are virtually dependant on oil for our survival. It is not just automobiles. Almost every product utilizes oil in some fashion for production, agriculture and so forth.

I do not know if the earthquakes have increased since we have industrialized, but I do believe they definitely will be more intense and more frequent if we continue on our path.
