Are you Ready for whatever?

With all the snow melt and all of the rain the country has been getting, are you ready for possible flooding, electrical outages for an extended period of time? Ask yourself, what can I do? If you are not already flooded out of your home, make sure you keep an eye on the weather and news in your area, especially the water levels in your rivers and streams. Check your insurance policies to see if you have flood insurance even if you think your on higher ground, it might be wise to have. Know what Items you need to protect such as important documents, Photo's, ect. Be prepared to leave in a moments notice, or better yet, don't wait till the water is at your door steps before deciding to evacuate. It is never too late to prepare, just think on what would I do if any of these things should happen and prepare yourself and family for such events should they happen. Heavy duty plastic garbage bags are good for storing an extra set of clothes, candles, Bic lighters, water, portable drip through water filters, canned food, whatever you think you might need to get through. Even if you are not effected by flooding, think power outages. You may want to invest in a portable generator, it does not have to power the community, just your freezer or refrigerator, so you don't have to go overboard on this. You can also purchase a power inverter power inverter to hook up to your car to convert 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC instead of a generator for around $100.00 Dollars and is in the same price range as a small generator. Don't wait until it's too late and your already in a predicament, think ahead.
