| A Tear from His Eye
A tear from his eye fell down his cheek It touched a weak heart gone cold He shuddered in alarm. He was startled By such warmth coming to him in reply, knowing the condition he was in He knew not how he had been gifted in that way, nor why. The Tear continued its journey, rolling down the side of his arm It reached an open hand. Already a pool had formed in its mind.. "I do not understand this," he said to his Friend bathing "Is this tear your alms, your hopes, your sadness, Or is it your joys coming back to haunt me?"
"It is all of the above. It is my love for you, My Friend, the tear said I want to walk with you again, hand in hand As we have done before. I want to be one with you in Sacred Land." "And just where is This Sacred Land you want me to go to?" My Friend replied "Wherever your soul will take us," he cried. "Then to The Wilderness, to The Mountaintops of My Mind we shall go" I said. "But first I must be clothed. I cannot walk naked along The Path leading us there. It could be a cold Winter’s Night walking with You, my Soul." "Then get dressed, stop worrying and whining. Let’s go," My Friend replied with that sad mournful look in his eye, As though he had asked this of me many times before and had been refused. "I have a place to show you, too," another Voice said. "There is a warm moonlit cave deep inside The Mountain of Your Mind Where a beautiful waterfall empties into many emerald green pools Lying at the foot of the falls. Seven of them, to be exact. The shimmering light of Grandmother Moon hits the smooth mossy rocks and boulders That line the banks of each pool, sending out bands of sparkling silver and gold. Clouds of misty silvery light drift lazily by. We could sit upon those banks for hours upon hours, Or walk among them, if we try. You’ve been there before with me. Don’t you remember? You took me there once yourself." . . . My old friend had spoken The Truth. I HAD forgotten about The Pool and The Cave.... "You’re right," I said, "I have in my sorrow forgotten These wondrous things inside my mind. Let us go!" And so we did. We walked and we walked. We talked in silent prayer for many a mile leading us there, To the flank of The Mountain. My Friend lead The Way this time. Sure enough, I had made the right choice, by letting him lead. There in the soft moonlit night was an opening deep into the mountain. It was a full moon and the path we took seemed to be reflecting Her beauty, Lighting the way as we entered The Cave. Deep within, we saw The Waterfall and the Seven Pools of Beauty. Little Bear, my other friend, who was a Sacred Wolf Elder in The Dreamtime Had accompanied me that glorious night. Perhaps in reality he was doing the leading. He had reminded me of This Wondrous Vision of The River’s Daughter And her shimmering sister The Moon And now She was with us. "I shall sit here a very long while and contemplate these lovely things," I said to My Beloved Friend. "But I wish to fly above these mist-laden clouds that are drifting by," LittleBear replied. "Don’t you want to try and fly with me?" "No, you go ahead," I said. "I have no wings as do The Elders from The Dreamtime. You are Sacred to me, but These Gifts, I do not have them available at my disposal like you do so willingly. "Yes, you do, My Friend," said a soft voice, Coming from deep within The Mountain. "You left them here the last time you came to visit Me. Take them with you now. Put them on, they still fit. Climb upon my back and I will show you how to fly beyond the clouds to Another Sky, another Sun. There is a whole Universe awaiting you inside This Mountain." Then The Wings The Soft Voice spoke about drifted down through the mist And lay there quietly at my feet, Folded like The Shroud once worn by The Man From The Mountain, It seemed as though The Wings were the ones He too had left behind. Yet now, they were dripping with molten gold. "Doubt not, My Friend," The Voice said. "He left them for you. They are the same wings He wore when He ascended, But they belong to you now, you who are Willing to travel deep into The Dark Misty Mountains of The Lonesome Mind, willing to Pass by The Frightening Obstacles Ignoring The Glittering Promises others seek, Passing eagerly over the promising peaks of purple hills And choosing a simple Walk of Courage Letting faith take you back into The Cave of Memories Lost." . . . I thanked The Voice for its encouraging words. And so, I, My Soul, My Dear Companion and Beloved Friend Donned The Wings and the Gifts we were given We spread our wings flying to The Other Sky The Voice From The Mountain had promised. We all decided there and then, Never again to ask why. I finally found A Welcoming Home in My Own Mind One I had tried so many times to avoid, Thinking I was not worthy of claiming title to such a Grand Palace, That it was only a place I might visit now and then, but only as a guest. The rest was history.............. Sometimes on a mountaintop you might see a cloud circling by in The Sky with a man and a dog sitting on the edge of it, legend upon legend, ledgers and ledges you might reconsider. All are but a figment of one's imagination perhaps, and yet...... as the Cloud disappears deep into The Mountain, wondrous things will come to you. Songs you seem to have lost will come back, wings will appear, ones you’ll never forget were yours in the first place, ones you’ll never leave behind ever again...! Aho! | |

| Thank you for those kind words, BTM & Twohawks. I am always reminded how fragile and yet how strong faith (and all those other goodwill feelings) are. Sometimes the words just spin off my brain like a tape machine chewing up tape. Yeah, Great Spirit gave me this gift. How can one stay silent when the gift renews you first, even before you've finished typing it down? | |
