| This is bizarre. Two reports of huge chicken eggs after an earthquake - one from the U.S. and one from the U.K. Read both stories. First story link shows photos of the eggs. - Quote :

THE earthquake could be responsible for this eggs-traordinary find!
Phil and Elaine Armitage believe one of their chickens was so cracked up by the tremor that it laid this giant egg.
It’s twice the size of what you might find in the supermarket.
The Lingdale couple have kept chickens for 12 months and originally suspected fowl play when they found the egg.
Phil, 40, and Elaine, 39, slept through the tremor and only heard about it after they had picked up the super egg shortly after 7am.
“We were stunned,” said Phil. “We have had big ones before but this one is an absolute stonker.”
The hen, named Chicken Tikka, shocked Phil and Elaine once before 12 months ago when it managed to find its own way into their coop before they had even brought in their own birds.
Elaine added: “We had just built the home for the chickens and she was already in there, but we don’t know how. Because of that Chicken Tikka was laying straight away and because she is older her eggs tend to be bigger, but this was massive.”
The egg has a circumference of 17cm and is over 8cm long.
Phil, who works for Middlesbrough Council and Elaine, manager of Oxfam on Newport Road in Middlesbrough are yet to hatch any plans as to what to do with their find.
Elaine said: “We will never crack it.”
As the saying nearly goes, there’s nowt so queer as yolk. - Quote :

A farmer in Illinois says his chickens are reacting to the aftershocks from last week's earthquake.
Butch Shirley was busy Wednesday showing off a strange looking egg that was laid by one of his hen's Monday at his farm in Greenup, Illinois.
That was the day West Salem, Illinois recorded the strongest aftershock so far from Friday's 5.2 earthquake.
Shirley says the same morning of the 4.1 aftershock, one of his chickens laid an egg that was twice the normal size, multi-colored and has odd looking ridges.
Shirley's convinced that it's a product of the quake, "I took it out of the nest and my wife said 'What have you got?' She couldn't believe it. I said, there it is it's different. So I waited til' yesterday to see if something was wrong with one of them and they all four laid normal eggs. So, I really think it's got something to do with the aftershock."
Shirley says his friends told him to put the egg on e-bay, but he says he'll probably keep it and put it on his mantle for his grandchildren to see. | |
